This innovative performance is immediately engaging and the audience is dazzled by the technical prowess of the robotic choreography. A futuristic fantasy, Robot!, Blanca Li's new creation for the Montpellier Dance Festival, is one of these unidentified objects the choreographer from Andalusia particularly enjoys. In this approach to total theatre, she involves eight dancers and the animated humanoids of the Japanese collective Maywa Denki. The resulting opera takes stock of a world in which mathematics and technology try to harness human life and design thinking machines. Machines with desires... A post-dadaist choreographer, influenced by psychoanalytically-minded Martha Graham and her native city of Granada where she was a gymnast at the age of twelve, Blanca Li enjoys a comical and poetical form of humour. Her Garden of Earthly Delights after Hieronymus Bosch, premiered at Montpellier in 2009, her opera Rag Time after Scott Joplin, a commercial for the Longchamp brand and a show for Jean-Paul Gaultier all partake of her invitation to come and dance with me. His contribution to Latin music was to have extended his roots into contemporary expression, often with instrumentation closer to that of modern jazz, and this, whilst not losing one ounce of poetry. Because it really is this capacity to make his public dream which characterises this composer/singer/arranger that his female admirers recognise from afar because of the hat which never leaves him and close up by the harmonious lines of his face. Adding on successes in Marciac like so many pearls on his musical necklace, Roberto Fonseca could almost stake claim to having the status of an event organiser. The king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar sends his general, Holofernes, to conquer the city of Bethulia in Israel. To save her Israelite compatriots, courageous Judith decides to seduce Holofernes. When he falls asleep, she cuts his head off. Juditha triumphans is the only extant oratorio of the four that Vivaldi composed. The intense war atmosphere is conveyed through the dynamic choral parts, and Judiths faith and integrity through the lyrical and tender writing. Notable is the use of many different and relatively rare instruments, such as the viola damore, chalumeaux, and theorbos, used by Vivaldi to highlight the most significant moments.

My father brought me up on blues before I could even walk, and I played the organ before having learnt to speak.Lucky Peterson, The precocious, classy little baby's bottle was thrown into music as soon as he was born.To this die-hard blues man, who is the guardian of the flame, he was able to add a well-chosen dose of groove. There is no doubt that it was a suitable way to honour Jimmy Smith, who was a reference in the realm of jazz soul and with whom he had exchanged in his youth. Finally this dive into history reminds us how much the hymns of the 1950's and 1960's remain incredibly sensual, enough to encourage the choir of a church to dance...
