Otis Rush is one of the chief architects of the “West Side” style of Chicago blues in the 1950s and 1960s and has been a hugely influential figure throughout his long career. For this first appearance at Montreux Festival 1986 he is joined on stage by fellow blues stars Eric Clapton and Luther Allison for a truly special performance featuring many of his best known tracks. The concert is introduced by Claude Nobs who explains how Eric Clapton convinced him to book Otis Rush for Montreux Jazz Festival 1986. The concert itself shows why. One can clearly see how much all musicians love playing together; their interaction and joy greatly affects the audience.

In late 2017, Evanescence re-emerged from their hiatus with Synthesis—a reimagining of their best-known songs with orchestra & electronics and an accompanying sold-out and highly-acclaimed world tour. On November 3, 2017 Evanescence performed “Synthesis Live” in front of a sold out crowd at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Casino in CT.

In 2004 The Who returned to the Isle Of Wight Festival for the first time since their legendary performance in 1970. After a long absence, the festival had been reborn in 2002 and continues to this day. Their UK concerts in 2004 were the first in their home country since the death of founder member John Entwistle. As the evening shadows lengthened across the festival site, The Who took to the stage and delivered an incendiary performance packed with hit singles and classic album tracks and the concert more than lived up to the fans expectations and memories of 1970.

And as with other hugely successful rock bands, it was the lead singer who was in charge of pumping up the crowd, with Julian Casablancas yelling things like “D.C., lets rock!” and “Whats up, D.C.?!” The crowd went wild, but to Casablancas, it was clearly a joke. He was playing a role and said as much outright at the beginning of the show, but that didnt stop the crowd, hungry for more entertainment, from taking him seriously.

Nineteen-year-old British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg is a man of few words, that is until he begins his strumming. His unique voice is one that finds few, yet highly admirable comparisons - perhaps a rockabilly-folk twangy twist of The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle and Colin Meloy of the Decemberists. The release of his self-titled, full-length debut last October sent a sonic shockwave through the music world with songs like the feverishly hooking foot-pounder Lightning Bolt and the howling 60s rock sing-along Two Fingers. Jake took the stage late one evening at Hype Machine's Hype Hotel, where he roared through his catalog of catchy hits for an rock-hungry crowd. And we were there to catch the solid solo kid in action.

Being from the rain-ridden lands of England, Foals are used to a different kind of festival environment: generally speaking, frontman Yannis Philippakis described them as mud and wellies ordeals. So we're sure they were quite pleased to travel halfway around the world to the California desert to perform for Coachella's music-hungry crowds. Prior to taking to the stage in Indio, however, Foals made a pit stop at our little poolside bungalow to perform a Festival Fever Session featuring songs off their highly-acclaimed, recent full-length Holy Fire. While you might have already seen the band's in-the-flesh transformation of My Number into a slow-burning beaut, we've expanded the session to include the subtle closer Moon.

It's been a crazy year for Donald Glover, but nothing has been more blazing than his career as rapper Childish Gambino. The project, born of a Wu-Tang name generator, is full of witty, rambunctious energy, as he effortlessly demonstrates in his session at Rockwood Music Hall. Along with collaborator and musical guru Ludwig Gransson on electric guitar, Gambino rips through tracks from his wildly popular EP as well as the lead single from his debut album Camp (out now on Glassnote Records). From introspection to love to pop culture and punny metaphors, Gambino runs an impressive lyrical gammit, one that inspires all the vital decision making organs.
